Hello!
I hope you can help me with my question.
I have a very worried friend. Her boyfriend who is 25 has SWS. recentely he suffered from pain in his eye (same side as port wine stain) and problems with field of vision. Could these be symptoms of glaucoma? Can glaucoma appear later in life? could this be a sign of something else related to SWS or to something unrelated to it?
Thank you in advance...

Hi Noa. You can read more about glaucoma here:

Scroll down to the glaucoma section.
I am not an expert, but eye pain and vision problems can be symptoms of glaucoma. However, often times there are no symptoms at all. Glaucoma can occur at various ages. Also, people with facial pws especially on the eyelid or near the eye should have regular exams for glaucoma and other conditions related to SWS. As to whether it is SWS related or not, that's really hard to answer. It's just my opinion, but I would think that he would want to have his eyes examined, and continue to do so on a regular basis determined by his doctor.
Please let us know how he is doing.

Hello
I have had Glaucoma going on 15 years now. My PWS covers both eyes. I was 21 when they found torn tissue in my right eye. I had not been diagnosed with SWS yet so they didn't think it was glaucoma. When I was 32 I was diagnosed with SWS and almost blind in the right eye do to the glaucoma. Other than the lack of vision there were no signs. Since then it has moved into my left eye. I have had 2 lazier surgery's on my right and one on the left to help with pressures.
The eye doctors like to see SWS and PWS patients every 6 months if they don't have signs of glaucoma and every 4 months for controlled pressure checks. It can start at birth or later in life.
Please keep us posted!
