Isabel, now 19 and half months old was evaluated by the Birth To Three Program last week. We had our meeting with the Social Worker Friday, and it was determined that she qualifies for the B-3 program because of her lack of walking and her speech problem. She's not walking yet, and she only says about 6 words, including her fave phrase
"What's that?" She should be talking a whole lot more, but isn't. :
I am wondering since she is having difficulties now, does it mean that she'll have difficulties like this when she's in school? I have one child who had the wrong immunization, and was brain damaged from it. SO I'm familiar with IEP's, etc.
Guess I"m not too familiar with what the later problems are with SWS, and I loaned my book to Isabel's father. Which I DOUBT that he's read. I told him to read it. But I doubt that he has. 
I'd appreciate anyone's input on this.

Glen has some behavior problems associated with SWS (similar to ADD/ADHD) and he also has some learning disability. Plus the seizure med. makes him very drowsy. He does have an IEP through his school. That said, Glen is very smart and excells in Math.
As you know, each case of SWS is different, so we can never talk in absolutes.

Just wanted to add to this.
Growing up I had ADD/ADHD and was in special ED. Now have adult ADD.
I use the hyperness in better ways then I use to. (work and at the gym)
I also have learning disablities as well. Last I knew there was not a direct link with the LD and SWS, but with more and more cases are coming up might find the reasons behind it. It did not hold me back, and I suggest teaching your kids to not let it hold them back either. I even made the Deans list my last year in college before I got my degree.

Hi Lori!! My daughter is 19 months old as well. She has been walking for only 3 months and she only says "baba". She has said some other words but only has said them once and never again. My first question would be if your daughter is an only child? I ask that because my other two children tend to speak for the baby pretty often, which keeps her from expressing herself. She is in a therapy program , and her doctor said that learning disabilities could be possible, depending on the frequency of seizures and how strong they are. At this age I think we just have to keep couching them along the learning path and see how it goes
